Switched out my boring USDM hazard switch for a big honking red JDM one. Took about an hour to take it apart and put it back together, which is about what I expected. The write-up on Acurazine is missing a step, which added a couple minutes, but it really was fairly simple. I’ve done more involved OEM mods on my Preludes.

Now to take care of the dust and pollen that wafted in while I was doing this...
Oh yeah, it lights up, like, the entire thing, when you turn the lights on. It just screams “PUSH ME!”

what an odd mod.

One of the very first interior cosmetic mods I made was to change the ugly-ass black rubberized knobs to polished stainless steel ones . Makes the entire console look so premium. 2 min job. Pics from the forum.
OEMs look like this

Nice! Something to be said for small mods. I want to do something similar to my Accent. I know, I know, it’s just an Accent, but sometimes little mods like this are nice. :)
The base model Accents like mine came with more boring black climate control knobs:
Higher end ones came with fancier silver-ringed dials, which I think look a lot nicer - would be a cheap and easy mod from a Pick-and-Pull yard! :)

he said referring to the upgraded button, or the mods of this forum?

The button. I realize it’s just my take on it but ifn a mod doesn’t provide added function or noticable difference to the driving or aesthetic experience it would fall to the bottom of my mods list.

Wow, that’s a huge difference. I wonder what the mfr saves on things like this. Cents per piece? Is it really worth it?

Meanwhile in Japan red buttons are being changed for USDM ones

you fall to the bottom of my mods list

It was $59 for a set of 4, free shipping. It’s very high quality and looks and feels so, but I think even given the economies of scale, would have been too expensive for Nissan.

I can live with that.

Yep. There are a bunch of 8th gen Accord owners in Japan that have converted their cars to look like TSXs. Beak and all.

That is much better.

butt-on the other hand, maybe you’re a good mod #butt-on

I like that.

Eh, it was super cheap and I don’t plan to do anything major until I have the car paid off.

Im fine with you doing it, just giving you my perspective. I was never much into the subtle stuff, but I can see how people are.

You think so? So you paid a mark up, and Nissan would get a bulk discount, and they didn’t pay nothing for the cheap looking ones. And lets say they get ones that look like yours, but maybe not quite so high end. So say it’s $20 more a car. Looks a thousand times better. They could easily increase the cost of the car that same $20. I really don’t get why there’s shitty switches in cars. Maybe I got it all wrong.

ehh that looks like a lot of taking things apart just to replace one plastic button with another plastic button. Does look nice though, hope it wasn’t too much of a pain in the butt!
![]() 05/01/2018 at 16:23 |

Yeah, I can understand that. To me subtle mods can really set a car apart when done right.

Other than the info about the two other screws it really was very simple. The OEM door visors and Comptech short shifter, both of which I bought before this, will both be more complicated.

That really makes a big difference! Nice touch

I like the red better....very slightly. I appreciate specialty fine touches.

I like the JDM more. Not only does it give off that soft pink-red glow at night, it’s more visible in the event of an emergency. I’m all about small mods, especially to the interior to make it look more fancy or different like replacing gloss black trim with matte silver.

I do too. I forgot this one lights up at night. I think the USDM one does as well, but nowhere near as much.
